[jira] [Created] (HADOOP-14082) Unify allowed characters in username and groupname

Attila Bukor created HADOOP-14082:
-------------------------------------

Summary: Unify allowed characters in username and groupname
                 Key: HADOOP-14082
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-14082
             Project: Hadoop Common
          Issue Type: Improvement
            Reporter: Attila Bukor
            Assignee: Attila Bukor

Various utilities have their own specific set of allowed characters (e.g. chown doesn't allow '\', although logging in with a username containing one and then creating a file will work properly with the correct owner). This should be unified.
