Bug ID: 121363
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Norwegian spellchecker doesn't understand how
connecting -s- works
Classification: Code
Product: lingucomponent
Version: AOO 3.4.1
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: spell checking
Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
Reporter: the1cannedman@gmail.com

══════════
Attention:
──────────
I understand this is the correct place to report bugs, but was unable to
find
OOo 3.3.0 from the list; only AOO350-dev and AOO 3.4.1 were available. The
correct build is as stated above and

═════════
Overview:
─────────
Norwegian uses compound words, and often (though not always), a connecting
-s-
or -e- is required; e.g. (the connecting letter has been capitalised):
lekmannSgods (lekmann + gods), hverdagSgjenstander (hverdag + gjenstander),
herjingStokt. OpenOffice.org’s dictionary often does not understand when
and
how to use this. Common compound words seems to be included, but when
creating
new words (which is considered proper, good Norwegian grammar), the new
word is
identified as an error

═══════════════════
Steps to Reproduce:
───────────────────
Example 1)
a) Write “sildefiske” → OK
b) Write “sildefiskereguleringer” → error. Dictionary suggests
I) “silde fiskereguleringer” (which is wrong – it appears to believe
“silde” is a verb (translation: “to herring fishing-regulations”),
II) “silde-fiskereguleringer” (which is poor and confusing syntax),
III) “sildefiske reguleringer” (as I, though translated as “to
herring-fish
regulations”)
IV) “sildefiske-reguleringer” (which is acceptable, though not correct).

Example 2)
a) Write “kjøpmann” → OK
b) Write “kjøpmannshus” → error (as bI–bIV)
c) Write “kjøpmannsdatter” → error (ibidem)

And so on and so forth.

═════════════════
Expected Results:
─────────────────
The application should identify the words as being new compound words.

══════
Build:
──────
OpenOffice.org 3.3.0 OOO330m20 (Build:9567) on Windows 7 Professional SP1

════════════════════════════════
Additional Builds and Platforms:
────────────────────────────────
The bug is expected to take place on all platforms using the supplied
dictionary of OOo 3.3.0
