   This issue was reviewed as part of the JIRA-migrated backlog triage (HUDI-8685).
   
   **Findings: still disabled; the linked PR has not merged.**
   
   Both tests named in the description remain disabled on `master`:
   
   - `hudi-client/hudi-java-client/src/test/java/org/apache/hudi/client/TestJavaHoodieBackedMetadata.java:2224`
   - `hudi-spark-datasource/hudi-spark/src/test/java/org/apache/hudi/functional/TestHoodieBackedMetadata.java:3093`
   
   both as a bare `@Disabled` with no reason string.
   
   PR #12656 (`[HUDI-8685] Re-enabling flaky/buggy test (TestHoodieBackedTableMetadata.testCleaningArchivingAndCompaction)`) is still **open and unmerged**, so nothing has landed yet.
   
   Same caveat as the other re-enable tickets in this batch: both methods carry `@Disabled` but **no `@Test`** annotation, so the annotation removal has to add `@Test` back or the tests still will not run.
   
   Keeping this open until #12656 merges.
