Preverify derby for J2ME device

How do you run the preverifier on the derby.jar.  I get the following
error every time

 

Error preverifying class java.lang.Class

    VERIFIER ERROR java/lang/Class.newInstance0()Ljava/lang/Object;:

Illegal type in constant pool

*.* : no such file or directory

Preverify step complete
