Apache is very simple to install from a zip.

1. Create a directory called c:\apache (this is the way I build it).
2. Unzip one of my Apache zips to this directory (there are imbeded
directories).
3. cd to the c:\apache\bin directory
4. run the command 'apache -k install'

If you had a previous install you can begin by typing 'apache -k
uninstall' from the c:\apache\bin directory before you start and you
should protect your c:\apache\conf\httpd.conf and ssl.conf files.

After installation you can make any changes you need to
c:\apache\conf\httpd.conf and ssl.conf or copy your saved files into the
c:\apache\conf directory.

>From c:\apache\bin you can stop 'apache -k stop' and restart 'apache -k
install' to get your changes read in.

net stop apache2 and net start apache2 work as well but if you have
syntax errors, they are often displayed to the console when you type
'apache -k start'.

You can get my latest Apache for Windows binaries with SSL and ZLIB
added from...

Apache 2.0.43 and 2.0.45 are rather old - there have been security
patches. You should use Apache 2.0.49.

I have not checked but Apache.org usually has the latest MSI.

[users@httpd] I think my issue is something else then: like ColdFusion/JRUN...anyone recognize this error?

Posted by Abraham Vionas <ab...@gesx.com>.
Thanks for that info. I'll probably need it someday. : )

Would anyone have the slightest clue what the following error means? I've
tried *everything* to get past it... old versions of apache (1.3), manual
modification of the httpd file (since apparently Coldfusion won't do it
itself), uninstalling everything and reinstalling everything clean (with
absolutely no unnecessary processes or services running at the time)...

I'm absolutely clueless. Obviously I've checked everything the error says
could be wrong and it's all right... and at this point I'm positive Apache
isn't the problem... something is screwy with Coldfusion/JRUN. UGH. Help!!!

2nA you have successful competed the first step in installing Macromedia
ColdFusionMX.
However, the ColdFusion server does not appear to be running. The web
server connectors did not install successfully.and the web server and/or
website could not be reached on port 80.
Possible reasons include the ColdFusion service failing to start, blocked
2901 or 51010 ports, or the web server and/or website is not running or is
not configured to listen on port 80(in which case it is not an erro)
Please complete the following steps to complete the installation:
1) Consult the installation Guide on how to manually configure the web
server connector.
2) Ensure any firewall software blocking ports 2901 or 51010 is disabled
