NIS Login Management

I have a fairly large list of users/passwords managed by NIS that I'd
like to integrate into SVN. Can anyone give me instructions on doing
this or tell me where to find them?

Thanks,
Travis Love

For most Linux setups, isn't it done automatically with the system
configuration tools when you enable NIS?

Also, did you set up your /etc/nsswitch.conf correctly?

It is usually part of the standard Linux setup, if you choose NIS
authentication when installing. What distro are you using and how did
you configure authentication for it when you installed?

Cheers,
Duane.

I've searched high and low, and can find little, which strikes me as
odd. Am I missing something, or is it something very obvious that
I'll remember at 2:00 tomorrow morning?

If you are using HTTP then you can use mod_pam for authenticating users
through NIS. If you are using SSH then it should all Just Work, assuming
you have your repo setup properly (as per the user guide).

Cheers,
Duane.

* Decide on how you're going to access the repository: I recommend
HTTPS/mod_dav_svn.

* Use "ypcat passwd" to generate your .htpasswd file, on a cron job basis or
as needed.

* Decide on your access control method: I recommend using .htpasswd, coupled
with svnperms.py and svnperms.conf.

* Get one part at a time working.

* Document it for the next person who has to maintain it.
