I think it could be due to NFS. The test creates a 32KB file and checks its size as reported by {{du}}. The test failure

Invalid on-disk size: 4096, expected to be in [32768, 40960]
{code}
means that {{du}} does not (yet?) see the complete file.
You can override the test data directory using the {{test.build.data}} property. Please try setting it to some local directory, e.g.: {{-Dtest.build.data=/tmp}} (pass this to the {{mvn}} command).
