I think Keiron has a good point: wouldn't it be possible for Gump to use
a particular tagged version of another project instead of the latest one
from CVS?

Isn't this the point of Gump, to actually find cross-project problems ?
Otherwise, what is it doing, besides just validating compilation for code
that developers checked in (hopefully after compiling at least once...) ?
