Jetspeed load balancing
All,
I am implementing load balancing for our JetSpeed2 portal and curious if
anyone has 2 jetspeed tomcat instances sharing same database instance ?
So far I am getting error "Portlet Application jetspeed-layouts not
available" on leg 1 once one leg 2 of the jetspeed2 portal has been
restarted.
I am interested to know if anyone has done it successfully. Any resources on
the Internet regarding this is appreciated.
Thanks.
Igor Grapp.

That explains it...
2.0 had some trouble in a load balanced environment (basically the local
search index got messed up / out-of-synch after the second instance was
started and wrongfully overwrote the db).
All that (and much more) is fixed in 2.1, including a truly distributed
cache.
So my suggestion would be to upgrade to 2.1...

We are using Jetspeed 2.0 on MSSQL with Graffito CMS and Graffito portlet
Here is a general reproudciton steps:
1. Start Leg 1 of the Jetspeed
2. Start Leg 2 of the Jetspeed
3. Open Graffito CMS on Leg 1 , edit and save some content
- at this point content displays fine on both legs
4. Restart Leg 2 of the Jetspeed
4. View content on Leg 1 - Will fail - white page will appear with error
text:
"Portlet Application jetspeed-layouts not available"
I am trying to find out if any state for the "jetspeed-portlet" application
being saved into DB upon its redeployment.

Yes, we have done it successfully.
Can you tell a little more about your environment and the exact error you
are getting?
