   Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'm closing this for now to reduce our PR queue. I'll reopen the PR after I've worked on the RFC document and have added some benchmarks of using `rdbc` vs direct buffers, and I'd also like to add MySQL + ODBC support so that we have more points of comparison.
   
   This is likely to be done around Feb 2021, so def not in time for the next release.
