Not to say that I wouldn't support adding such a feature (I think it might be neat), but when you say "This behavior cannot be achieved using available controls...", are you sure you can not achieve this effect using the component added in TOMAHAWK-165? Of course this and similar approaches would require multiple outputLabels for each component, making your proposed solution still preferable. :)
