[jira] Created: (MARTIFACT-14) Use specific encoding for checksum files

Use specific encoding for checksum files
----------------------------------------

                 Key: MARTIFACT-14
                 URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MARTIFACT-14
             Project: Maven Artifact
          Issue Type: Bug
    Affects Versions: 3.0-alpha-1
            Reporter: Benjamin Bentmann
            Priority: Minor
         Attachments: checksum-file-encoding.patch

The checksum files are currently written/read using the JVM's default encoding. Even though the ASCII characters constituting the checksums are quite safe from being messed up, the principal possibility for such a problem exists. Just assume somebody running with EBCDIC (like in MANTTASKS-14). See also [Common Bugs|http://www.nabble.com/Re%3A-Common-Bugs-p15919795s177.html].
