[users@httpd] Directory Access Permissions?
I am trying to set up access permissions to a restricted directory within my
web directory structure. This is Apache 2.0.47. The first <Directory />
shown is the default. I added the second <Directory
/opt/portalroot/alliance/documents> directive. I created the user password
file already. When I browse to the document directory, I just get the
"Forbidden" message.
#
<Directory />
Options FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
</Directory>
#
#
<Directory /opt/portalroot/alliance/documents>
AuthType Basic
AuthName "Restricted Files"
AuthUserFile /usr/local/apache2/passwd/passwords
Require user someusername
AllowOverride AuthConfig
</Directory>
#
What am I doing wrong? I would certainly appreciate some assistance.
Best regards,
Michael D. Peters

What does the error log say? Does it work if you remove the auth
directives?
Joshua.
