[jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-1327) convert user manual to a markup that will make nice web pages and pdf

Billie Rinaldi commented on ACCUMULO-1327:
------------------------------------------

Regarding the markdown possibility, I have made some attempts to use doxia and the maven-pdf-plugin to convert markdown to pdf and have not yet been successful. Some say it [works|http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/maven-users/201312.mbox/%3CCANZ+Vc5LPfmepHMzbj-u5+JNoqky=NMHf9_o7Fj-4RusL0LUJQ@mail.gmail.com%3E] and some say it [doesn't|https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MPDF-62], so it's unclear whether I'm doing something wrong or not.

If it's really not possible, we may need to relax one of our four goals (maven support, easy markup, html and pdf outputs).

> There are defects in the web-based documentation (see ACCUMULO-1104, ACCUMULO-1101, ACCUMULO-1100, ACCUMUL-1104). Find a decent document standard that can produce nice online and offline documentation formats, and move the current manual to that format.
