Am unable to access http://repo1.maven.org/ suddenly

Hi,

I am suddenly unable to access http://repo1.maven.org. Am not behind any
proxy.
I have deleted .m2/repositories folder. Is it because of this the problem
came up?
How do i need to resolve this?

Any pointers to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
