[jira] [Resolved] (CASSANDRA-10856) CHANGES and NEWS updated incorrectly when "thrift by default" was deprecated

Sylvain Lebresne resolved CASSANDRA-10856.
------------------------------------------
       Resolution: Fixed
    Fix Version/s: 2.2.5

Don't trust commit to be the current state of the code: that commit pre-dates the 2.2 renaming and thus both the CHANGES and NEWS file correctly had the CASSANDRA-9319 changes documented.

That said, there _was_ something wrong with the NEWS file in that the full "upgrading" section for 2.2 had been mistakenly put for 2.1.7. Not sure why that happened and I've moved it back where it belong so I'll rename the ticket to account for that change.

> Thrift was no longer started by default in CASSANDRA-9319. This change affects 2.2+, but the CHANGES and NEWS document the change as affecting 3.0+:

> I think this is incorrect; [~iamaleksey] can you confirm?
