when you run cordova with no arguments, the "Project Level Commands" section, "plugin add" parameter has help text on how to install a plugin by git url, but nothing about how to specify a branch and a subdir.

A branch is specified by a hash, and subdir with a colon.

For example, this uses the "plugins" branch, and the subdir of "keyboard":
