Hybernate 3 - Velocity
Hi there....plz i ask in advance to excuse my newbiness
I would like to ask 3 different questions just to get some stuff clear in my
head
1st. Is Maven something that replaces Ant & Eclipse or something that
repalces only Ant???
because in order to add my own applications (portlets) on my portal i have
to develop them somewhere...so by using maven i could develop there? or i
could use Eclipse and then transfer them to Maven for deplyement???
2nd. I would like to use Hybernate 3 instead of JDBC. i think it will be
more easy. Is there somebody that is using it already n found any useful
information already about it in regards with jetspeed as well?
3rd. Also a similar question about Velocity and JSP. What do you htink would
be better and why? I am sorry if this question is very general but i dont
really know the diferenes between this two so i would like to know your
opinion
finally on a previous mail i had asked about a usefull tutorial for Jetspeed
and Maven 2 ...i think i found something nice at:
http://portals.apache.org/tutorials/jetspeed-2/index.html
Thank you all in advance and again & plz excuse my newbiness again

Maven is a build similar to ant. It is not an IDE (like eclipse).

There is no reason why you couldn't use hybernate in your portlets AFAIK.

Velocity die-hards will tell you it is a superior templating engine
for a number of reasons. Not knowing velocity myself, I steer clear
of it as much as possible since I am much more comfortable in JSP.
