Re: [Maybe Spam] Re: inbox message order

David,

webmail doesn't maintain POP3 session so it's dangerous to call delete of

as message ordering arriaval.

This is not a defect in James, but in a webmail client which uses LIST
alone. Combine LIST with UIDL to maintain an ordered list.

How would your webmail client cope with a maildrop which is modified by
another legitimate lock?

Imagine...

User gets list from webmail in browser
User connects with email user application (MUA)
User "leaves messages on the server" but deletes one message from the top
of the list
User QUIT's MUA session
User deletes the top message from the webmail list.

The server will delete _TWO_ messages both from the "1" position, both
legitimately.

I would respectfully suggest that webmail should confirm the UIDL before
deleting, and possibly even maintain a session (lock) with a reasonable
time-out, the POP3 rfc mandates 10 minutes for session timeout on the
server, I would suggest 5 minutes in webmail.
