Lenya for larger intranets

Hello,


I am evaluating the usage of Lenya (or any open source CMS) for a 
corporate intranet with thousands of users and hundreds of editors. The 
editors have basic IT knowledge only and often have small bandwith WAN 
access (via VPN) to the CMS. Does someone has experiences with such an 
installation and would share it?
