new bug?

I've not seen this bug before, but a user gave me the recipe, and then
I was able to personally reproduce it using my 1.4 trunk client:

http://pastebin.com/530959

Notice that all I'm trying to do is make a subdirectory
schedule-replace. But somehow the *root* directory ends up that way,
with error messages to boot!

Is this a new bug?

(Btw, the user gets the problem with a 1.2.3 client also.)
