This means essentially that the lanaguge can be extended with additional constructs that define an specific syntax and change the apporach of rule inference. This would easy the development and integration of new functionlity like FSTs or similar compiled versions of rule sets. (Students could develop FST implementations or similar stuff without changing the ruta code itself)
