[users@httpd] Apache 1.3 versus Apache 2.2.3

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me the difference between apache 1.3.x and apache 2.2.3?

I installed apache 2.2.3 with  proxy enabled but i can't able to fine 
mod_proxy.so file inside modules directory but i can able to use ProxyPass directive inside httpd.conf without any error...please let me know in 
which directory all .so files will be there
