[jira] [Created] (SPARK-16997) Allow loading of JSON float values as TimestampType

Lukas Lalinsky created SPARK-16997:
--------------------------------------

Summary: Allow loading of JSON float values as TimestampType
                 Key: SPARK-16997
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-16997
             Project: Spark
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: SQL
    Affects Versions: 2.0.0
            Reporter: Lukas Lalinsky

This is currently only supported for integer types, which means I currently can't import floating point values as timestamps. The workaround is to load them as DoubleType and then cast them to TimestampType. It would be nice to support this directly.

I'm going to open a pull request to fix this.
