I attempted to replicate this bug with the following methods using the MS Word
document in 97-2003 attachment:

OS: Mac OSX 10.11.6
Writer version: 4.1.2

Test 1:(replicated successfully)
1. Open the file using OpenOffice Writer
2. Entered the password (it loaded as read-only)(pic)
3. Re save the file as .odt (pic)
4. Make sure the “Read-Only” checkbox is not filled in
5. Close current file and open the newly saved file
6. Came across the error “Readonly content cannot be changed. No modifications
will be accepted.”

Test 2:(replicated successfully)
1. Open the file using OpenOffice Writer
2. Entered the password (it loaded as read-only)(pic)
3. Re save the file as .odt (pic)
4. Filled in the password for Editing as well as viewing
5. Close current file and open the newly saved file
6. Came across the same error

Test 3:(workaround)
1. Open the file using MS word doc
2. Make small edit and save the file
3. Open in Open office (no longer loads as read-only)
4. Save-as .odt file
5. Close current file and open the newly saved file
6. Newly file is now editable

Not sure if this is a bug with conversion from old MS-word to ODT, but it seems
that you can avoid this bug by making an edit in MS-word and then opening it in
OO.
