Oh man let's make sure we're not breaking existing functionality while adding new ones.  Martin & Emmanuel if you can fix this let's do so before 1.5.1.  It's really not acceptable to break existing things with refactoring.  I suggest we put this bug back into the 1.5.1 roadmap.
