[jira] Created: (GERONIMO-2578) No message in portal and hugh stacktrace in console, if web console deployment fails

No message in portal and hugh stacktrace in console, if web console deployment fails
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: GERONIMO-2578
                 URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GERONIMO-2578
             Project: Geronimo
          Issue Type: Improvement
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
          Components: deployment
    Affects Versions: 1.2
Environment: Windows XP, should be valid for all platforms
            Reporter: Rakesh Midha
         Assigned To: Rakesh Midha
            Priority: Minor
             Fix For: 1.2

In case for some reason the deployment with web console fails, the server console is filled with hugh stacktrace, but user deploying the application is given no staus update on failure or success. Just the blank deploy page.

This sounds wrong for two reasons :
1. User should be updated with a failure update, reason and what to do?
2. Instead of server console, use logs. i.e. instead of system.out.println or printstacktrace is log files.

Hello Dain

I can provide a fix for this, but I am waiting for any comment on patch provided in http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GERONIMO-2621

If the guidelines provided in that patch is accepted I can fix this issue following the same guidelines.

Thanks

In case for some reason the deployment with web console fails, the server console is filled with hugh stacktrace, but user deploying the application is given no status update on failure or success. User is just redirected back to "Install New Application" page.

This sounds wrong for two reasons :
