This bug is being revisited because I have now only some of the data
needed for the key function.

In short, the bug is still there in 1.2.2, because it still takes about
14 seconds to do a (abeit more complex) transformation with the
Microsoft VM (latest build).

For comparison Saxon (5.4.1 and 6.0.2) both takes about 0.6 seconds with
the same JVM. 

Any comments?
