tomcat server mode and client mode

Hi all,
I have a basic doubt in tomcat configuration .
Though Iam not new java development Iam new to tomcat configuration.
can any one can tellme about diff between tomcat's server mode and client mode.
Or atleast give some pointers to the related resources
