Huge temporary files

Hi all,
I have encountered some problem while running traffic server in our QA lab.
It created huge (24GB, 8GB, 2.5GB) temporary files in /tmp directory.

Can somebody please explain for what purposes trafficserver uses these
files, and how can we avoid such large files in the future.
