Supercedes prior patches - thank you for all those applied!

This is against this morning's tree - simple cleanups to get
all support modules built under win32, eliminate some compiler
warnings, fix up some dependencies between the .dsp files, and 
bring all the projects under the same external M$ standard(?) C
library dll (so we will only need to distribute a single vc dll 
when we start releasing binaries).

Tell me if the embedded summary makes faster work of reviewing 
the patch, I'll do so more often.  have a great alpha
