Using Slide with own store

Is it preferable to use Slide if I only need WebDav to list, upload and
delete files and folders from a databasestore that is completely different
from those included in Slide?
Is there any extendable class that I could implement my own storehandler
which converts my own storeobjects to Slides storeobjects?

I don´t need transactions or any other "extras".
