Hi,

I've had the same problem :

I wanted to use VirtualDocumentRoot directive but because it doesn't set
accordingly the 'DocumentRoot' variable in cgi scripts then it's quite
"useless" to me : a RewriteRule/rewritemap can handle the same work as far as i
see -- so I'm asking what brings the VirtualDocumentRoot that mod_rewrite has
not already :-?

For now I'm using the workarround given by Kial but I'm not sure it'll fit all
my needs (that is I'm not sure some 3rd party applications don't use somewhere
the variable)..

It would be more than appropriate to have the proposed patch implemented into
mod_vhost_alias imho.
