quiet lately

Hi,

It's been quiet lately on the v-developer's side (outside of Nathan's
fantastic work on the tools). We had some great discussion last month on
the floating point issue, my impression was that there was some new
momentum.

I remain interested in helping to get the number patch in and maybe fix some
of the stuff on Bugzilla. But I'm off on a business trip and vacation for 2
weeks. When I get back, I'll ask again if there's anything I can do to help
get the number patch ready.

Best, WILL

Ah, great, that would be wonderful.

The memory issue keeps coming up. I find with my Turbine/Velocity app that
every time I reload the web app in Tomcat, it uses more memory. (I have to
restart Tomcat to effectively reload the system). (On a related note, one
time in 4 a thread gets stuck and it doesn't reload at all). Haven't had
time to delve into this; not sure if it's a Turbine or Velocity issue.

I recommend working on 1.4. I think the 1.3.1 branch is done. There's been
discussion of releasing 1.4 as-is (basically with infrastructure changes but
few new features), but I'm pushing to get the floating point number and map
support in first. (Both patches are available on this mailing list but
haven't been incorporated into the code base).

WILL

I definitely will work on

- The whole Velocity Startup code
- Mavenization
- The ant tasks (the texen task still gives me horrors)
- Resource loaders (there is a memory leaking bug somewhere)

once I find a little time to do so, which will be in early August.

Hi Will and all,

I still try to find the time dealing with the numbers-thing. I hope to get
it done soon.
