This may come out of some of the CI work being done on the side by Jan & others, but given couchdb is buildable on most** platforms with minimal effort using instructions in https://github.com/apache/couchdb/blob/master/DEVELOPERS I'm closing this.

People are welcome to re-open if there is somebody willing to progress it.
