use of apxs to build mod_jserv.so

I tried to use apxs to build mod_jserv.so according to instructions in

I don't believe it. I have been trying to run it on my Win2000 & one NT4.0 since
y'day. On my win2k, I just tried running
http://localhost:8080/examples/servlets/HelloWorldExample and then from URL,
removed 8080 & bingo. It executed the servlet. I am still wondering what
happened.

But my NT4.0 isn't yet running it. :-(
Struggle going on.

When I could get my servlets working but not my JSP on my NT box the problem
was my Java_Home wasn't set correctly you may want to try going to
Start->Settings->Control Panel - >System->Environment
and setting the Varible there.

Re: tomcat on IIS/NT4.0

Posted by Alok Daipuria <al...@yack.com>.
hi kjg,
  thanks a lot for taking pains of writing every step here.
My situation is : my tomcat is running fine. (I connect to
http://localhost:8080/examples, the page comes up. & it executes
servlets also, but fails for JSP examples.
   The problem is when I try to run them as http://localhost/examples,
the connector should pick up this request. Once I saw the IIS log trying
to get /jakarta/isapi_redirector.dll with 200 status, but then nothing
came up. The isapi.log doesn't say about anything failing.
    I have gone thru each of the steps you mentioned again to make sure
I didn't miss anything. But still IIS is not redirecting requests to
isapi_redirector.

  My registry settings are :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ->   SOFTWARE -> Apache Software Foundatation ->
	Jakarta Isapi Redirector -> 1.0 ->
       extension_uri = "/jakarta/isapi_redirect.dll"
 	log_file  = "e:\Java\tomcat\logs\isapi.log"
	log_level = "debug"
	worker_file = "e:\Java\tomcat\conf\workers.properties"
     worker_mount_file = "e:\Java\tomcat\conf\uriworkermap.properties"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrentCOntrolSet -> Services
	W3SVC -> Parameters ->
	Filter DLLs = "e:\java\tomcat\bin\iis\isapi_redirect.dll"

Anything I have left, please tell me.

thanks
ALok

TomCat Setup With IIS 4 Replace with your PC tcp/p
http://192.168.1.1:8080

Install – JavaTM2 SKD Standard Edition v 1.3 to D:\jdk1.3 download from the
Sun web site
Add to System Properties,  PATH=D:\jdk1.3\bin
Unzip jakarta-tomcat.zip to D:\tomcat
Add redirector to D:\tomcat\iis\i386\isapi_redirector.dll
Add registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Apache Software Foundation/Jakarta
Isapi Redirector/1.0
to the registry as per IIS how to.
Start IIS MMC Console

Add Virtual Directory to Web root, Mine was IS called jakarta, add the path
D:\tomcat\iis\i386\idapi_redirector.dll With execute access

In the MMC IS web properties/ISAPI Filters add a filter called jakarta
Executable = D:\tomcat\iis\i386\isapi_redirect.dll

Stop and restart the IIS web Site

Add user Variable to properties/environment JAVA_HOME=D:\jdk1.3 and
TOMCAT_HOME=D:\tomcat
Reboot the server and at the command prompt check set and path to see if
the new additions show up.

tomcat on IIS/NT4.0

has anyone succesfully configured tomcat on IIS.
I have done the setup, connector is running, but somehow the connector fails to
process the requests.
 I have tried the setup on 2 m/cs and it's not running on either. I couldn't
figure out the reason for apj12 not serving.

any clues?

thanks

Re: use of apxs to build mod_jserv.so

Bob, I'm not sure about the error, but if you need the mod_jserv.so, I
could send you mine, I just compiled it yesterday for apache 1.3.12
on debian linux 2.2 ( That is assuming you trust some guy on the
internet, and I would certainly understand if you choose not to :)
