Yes, and I think, everyone in the board knows what the reality is in that
department. But I don't know what to state there instead. :) The state of
FM 2.x is still a problem, because fixing bugs or adding features is much
more difficult than it should be, and that can be a maintenance problem if
I'm not around. So maybe something around those lines. (Of course the even
bigger problem is the stagnation of the 3.x branch...)

I noticed the bit about attracting contributors is still in there. It might
be interesting to discuss that, but honestly after 20 years in community
driven open source I don't know good ways to go about that. Things that
worked well 15 years ago don't work any more, and some things that worked a
decade ago also don't... and that is around when it seemed there was a big
shift in less community open source activity, along with an increase in
activity in projects that got more corporate attention. I don't mean to say
that's a bad thing, just that it is the winning formula these days so
attracting contributors that are not paid employees of companies doing
critical things with FreeMarker is more difficult, and I don't know that
any companies like that exist given the nature of FreeMarker (vs, for
example SOLR or Spark).
