[jira] Created: (INFRA-1516) Update mod_mbox archives for new
HttpComponents lists
Update mod_mbox archives for new HttpComponents lists
-----------------------------------------------------
Key: INFRA-1516
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-1516
Project: Infrastructure
Issue Type: Task
Security Level: public (Regular issues)
Components: Mail Archives
Reporter: Erik Abele
Priority: Critical
The mod_mbox archives for the following three new HttpComponents lists do not have all the old content from before the move:
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/hc-commits/
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/hc-dev/
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/hc-httpclient-users/
They need to be populated with messages from the following old lists:
commits@hc.apache.org needs to be populated from
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/jakarta-httpcomponents-commits/
dev@hc.apache.org needs to be populated from
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/jakarta-httpcomponents-dev/
httpclient-users@hc.apache.org needs to be populated from
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/jakarta-httpclient-user/
The ezmlm archives on hermes and the raw archives on minotaur are already merged and completely fine (I've verified that all three new lists have all the content from the old lists) so can be used to populate mod_mbox.
As soon as this is done the three old mod_mbox archives (jakarta-httpc*) can be removed and we can enable the relevant redirects for them (the redirects have already been added as comments to mail-archives.apache.org.conf).
There's also a mod_mbox archive for
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/jakarta-commons-httpclient-dev/
which can also be removed - the content of that was already merged with httpcomponents-dev@jakarta quite some time ago and is now also included in the new list.

Joe Schaefer commented on INFRA-1516:
-------------------------------------
First I think I need to remove the commons-httpclient-dev
archives from minotaur. It does look like those archives
were merged with the current dev@hc, so I don't think
we'd be losing any history.

Yes, sure, as said in the original request the archives of all these old lists were already merged into the new ones while moving them so feel free to go ahead and remove them.

[jira] Reopened: (INFRA-1516) Update mod_mbox archives for new

Erik Abele reopened INFRA-1516:
-------------------------------
Thanks so much for taking care of this so quickly, Joe!
Everything is working beautifully except for one minor, cosmetic nit:
The mod_mbox overview page [http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/] still shows the following four lists in the jakarta.apache.org section
commons-httpclient-dev
httpclient-user
httpcomponents-commits
httpcomponents-dev
Since these are now redirecting anyway we should probably remove them - doesn't make sense to list them there and still promote the old links.
Would be great if you could also do that - TIA, Joe!
