SVN repository - Google Summer of Code?

I'm sure you are all aware of the Google Summer of Code. I have been
contacted by a large number of students wanting to do my Voice plugin
for Forrest. Too many in fact given I already have three very high
quality proposals.

As a consequence I have been asking people to come up with their own
ideas, promising that if I like what they suggest I will mentor it.

Today I got a mail from Mikhail Kolesnik who had noticed the following
in the Forrest issue tracker:

FOR-265 - visualize diffs between versions of documents might be very
usefull. I can take "diff" or patches files format from SVN and
implement generation of content with differences marked.

Given our recent discussions regarding using Lenya as a documentation
framework and the fact that we need integration with SVN I found this
very interesting.

So, a couple of questions:

1) is the amount of work involved with doing this suitable for a Goggle
Summer of Code project?

2) is there a Lenya committer with the skills and time to co-mentor this
project with me?

I cannot advise on the technical aspects of Lenya, but I can assist with
the more general stuff. If someone is able to co-mentor I will invite
Mikhail to draw up a more complete proposal.

OK, I'll ask him if he would like to write up a proposal. I will send it
privately to Gregor who can distribute it via the PMC (I think these
should stay private until the decision is made as there is alot of
competition for places on the summer of code).

I'll mention that in my response to Mikhail.

there are different ways to do a diff. svn diff is not very well suited
for markup, xml diff might be better suited.

yes, I think so, whereas it could be one part of the Lenya Forrest
publication

yes, I would be interested whereas I am currently a bit overloaded with
work,
but is it actually supposed to start?
