>From 10.1 Derby includes its own JDBC driver, called the Derby Network Client according to the FAQ (http://db.apache.org/derby/faq.html). Although the DB2 JCC can still be used with Derby, it is no longer required. As the DB2 JCC driver is not available without registration, the required files cannot be uploaded to another download site.

In my mind this fulfills the improvement request, and I suggest we close this issue.
