Validations in Struts 1.0

Hi,
 
I am currently using Struts 1.0 (ActionForms). I would like to know what is the best method of implementing input validations (efor ex., validating emails, mobile numbers etc).
 
In Struts 1.1, we can use the validations framework. Is there any similar option in Struts 1.0?
Any information would be helpful to me.
