Creating user defined functions like __regex

Hi, I'm not sure if this bellongs in the development forums, but I was
wondering if it was possible to create my own functions similar to __regex,
that I could call within my test scripts.

If I did, would it require a minor change such as adding a library file, or
would I have to rebuild the entire project.
