I've taken a closer look at this issue, some notes:

* the {Rmi,Jndi}RegistrationSupport components require configurations, so just being listed is no guarantee they actually work
* the changes that lead to the version bump in Jackrabbit are in JCR-4195
* given that this is RMI and I'm not at all familiar with it, I'll bump the dependency version instead of increasing the range, as I'm not confident things will still work
