slashdot article

Well, the Velocity 1.4 release has been posted to Slashdot this evening with
a somewhat heavy-handed but generally positive note (after mentioning a "30
year beta period" - ouch!-- it referred to Velocity as "one of the most
powerful and popular templating engines around"). A good reminder that
although the v-user and v-dev community seem a bit insular sometimes,
there's really a much larger user base out there.

Kudos to Geir for getting the release finally out. And nice work to Jason
Gill for introducing the much needed DreamWeaver extension which was also
mentioned in the Slashdot article. It's on my to-do list for this weekend
to download it and send comments.

Anyway, here's the article...

And if anyone missed it, The ServerSide.Com had an article by Matt Raible
last week on using Velocity with Spring to send email. Seemed a little
overkill to me for just sending email, but a nice "how-to" about combining
Velocity and Spring.
