Doubts in flume

Flume channel
 channel has transaction property it set 1000 then what  will happen in incoming event rate 100/sec , will it wait for 1000 event to each before write to channel ?
channel has stored only 100 event and  transaction property it set 1000 ,  will it wait for 100 event to reach before sent event to sink ?
What is exact purpose of keep-alive properties , can any one explain it will example
