Podling Gobblin Report Reminder - May 2020

Dear podling,

This email was sent by an automated system on behalf of the Apache
Incubator PMC. It is an initial reminder to give you plenty of time to
prepare your quarterly board report.

The board meeting is scheduled for Wed, 20 May 2020.
The report for your podling will form a part of the Incubator PMC
report. The Incubator PMC requires your report to be submitted 2 weeks
before the board meeting, to allow sufficient time for review and
submission (Wed, May 06).

Please submit your report with sufficient time to allow the Incubator
PMC, and subsequently board members to review and digest. Again, the
very latest you should submit your report is 2 weeks prior to the board
meeting.

Candidate names should not be made public before people are actually
elected, so please do not include the names of potential committers or
PPMC members in your report.

Thanks,

The Apache Incubator PMC

Submitting your Report

----------------------

Your report should contain the following:

*   Your project name
* A brief description of your project, which assumes no knowledge of
the project or necessarily of its field
* A list of the three most important issues to address in the move
    towards graduation.
* Any issues that the Incubator PMC or ASF Board might wish/need to be
    aware of
* How has the community developed since the last report
* How has the project developed since the last report.
* How does the podling rate their own maturity.

This should be appended to the Incubator Wiki page at:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/INCUBATOR/May2020

Note: This is manually populated. You may need to wait a little before
this page is created from a template.

Note: The format of the report has changed to use markdown.

Mentors
-------

Mentors should review reports for their project(s) and sign them off on
the Incubator wiki page. Signing off reports shows that you are
following the project - projects that are not signed may raise alarms
for the Incubator PMC.

HI,

I’m sorry and sympathise, but given only a month will pass it shouldn’t be too much work to modify the existing report and re-submit.

If you read [1] you see it states "Mentors must sign off on the podling report. If there is no mentor sign off, the report from that podling will not be accepted, and they will be expected to report next month.”

Your mentors were reminded several times to do so, but given other things going on (ASF election and covid-19) their attention may of been elsewhere. From what I can see your mentors have been engaged and done a good job signing off previous reports. The PPMC can also reach to to their mentors and make sure the report gets sign off. The PPMC can also ask for more mentors or remove the ones they have if they have not being engaged. Just have a chat with them and I’m sure they sign off the next report.

Thanks,
Justin

Hi Justin,

I find it unfair for podling community to report again if mentors missed to
sign off - who are part of IPMC.
If anything, the action should be on IPMC to review and rectify its core
operational model to engage mentors and other IPMC members in its
functioning, rather than penalizing the podling community which did its job
on time.
So, I urge you and IPMC to take out Gobblin from reporting this month and
start a broader conversation about how to keep mentors engaged.

Hi,

Just in case there is some confusion. You are being asked to report again because your mentors didn't sign off your last report. You may need to remind them this Month to do so.

Kind Regards,
Justin
