We have seen several wonderful designs of tattoos over the past several decades, but the influence of technology on this skin décor trend has been observed just recently. If you are a tattoo lover, you might have heard about a new term in the tattoo industry – smart tattoo. It is scientifically named as [epidermal electronic systems|https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30819934/], but as the term smart tattoos look more appealing, people call it by this name only.

The idea behind smart tattoos is to use personalized adhesives, circuits, microprocessors, and conductors that can be fixed to the skin with the help of a special kind of glue. Smart tattoos are one of the most innovative products in the wearable technologies category. Stats reveal that almost 370 million wearable units were shipped in 2020. The major companies such as Facebook, Microsoft, Amazing, Google, and Apple are exploring several amazing possibilities in the wearable industry. The most recent innovation in this field is smart tattoos. The popularity of these tattoos has increased by a considerable level within the past few years. In fact, they have received equal attention in the market as smartphones. This is the main reason why some innovative researchers thought of combining both these units together through a potential interface.

The combination of smart tattoos with smartphones opens doors for the emergence of new opportunities in the technology sector. These advancements will not only ensure greater convenience to the end-users but could result in tremendous growth in the fitness and health sector.

The wearables in the present day have become compact in size. The smartphone displays can be further linked to the wristwatch, but the experts have now moved to the next step. The new age units can read signals right from your body and provide real-time data for further analysis. The smart tattoos include attachments that are more like electronic circuitry. Some people love to go ahead with sticker-type tattoos; however, others prefer rub-on tattoos in the wearable technology category. It is possible to send signals through these circuits either by stroking the tattoo surface, moving in a specific direction or by pinching the surrounding skin. The instructions can further communicate with your wristwatch or smartphone. In some cases, they may even work as a contactless solution to interface with many other devices. You may find it pretty exciting to make payment for the shopping bills through your smart tattoo.

There are plenty of applications associated with wearable smart tattoos. The best thing to know about these tattoos is that they can monitor health data from the human body with higher accuracy. At the present time, researchers from MIT and Harvard are developing an advanced smart tattoo which is named Dermal Abyss. This tattoo makes use of bio-sensitive ink that works perfectly well to detect glucose and sodium levels below skin layers. In order to provide instant feedback about any change in the respective parameters, the tattoo changes its color. Researchers state that this could be an amazing solution for people that are suffering from diabetes or are dealing with dehydration issues. Users can easily link the color data from smart tattoos to a dedicated app on the smartphone, which can ease the health monitoring process.

Microsoft and MIT have also joined hands together to develop a smart tattoo product which is named as DuoSkin. This wearable tattoo is designed with a gold leaf platform that is highly aesthetic and durable as well. The circuit is created with the help of graphic design software, and the module is further attached to a gold leaf with the help of an adhesive. It is possible to place these tattoos on the skin using the water transfer method. Note that these tattoos are temporary in nature, and it is possible to relocate them if needed. These tattoos are mainly designed to work as a touchpad to ease the operation on the smartphone. However, the developers are also making efforts to develop DuoSkin further to address various fitness and health monitoring applications.

There are many such advanced options for tattoo design. If you are bored with the traditional designs, you can consider [Tattoo Removal|https://www.extinkttattooremoval.com.au/] services and then switch to smart tattoos for better results.
