Open Science Codefest and upcoming NSF Polar DataViz Hackathon

Hi Folks,

We've been hacking away at the OSCodeFest (hash tag #oscodefest)
in Santa Barbara, organized by NCEAS the past few days, using Nutch,
Tika, and Solr to crawl and prepare data from the NSF Advanced
Cooperative Arctic/Antarctic Data and Information System (ACADIS), NSIDC
Arctic Data Explorer (ADE) and NASA Antarctic Master Directory (AMD)
websites.

This is in preparation for an upcoming NSF Polar Data Visualization
workshop in November 2014 in New York City, NY:
