[ANNOUNCEMENT] Jakarta Technologies Host Online Auction

Each year hundreds of Public Broadcasting stations host fundraising
auctions, for many stations it is their single largest source of
donations. This year, WXXI of Rochester New York is offering all 5000
lots in their auction inventory online, and also accepting telephone
bids in their studio during live television broadcasts. The software
running WXXI SpringMarketplace was written using Jakarta's Struts
Framework, along with supporting code from Jakarta Taglibs and Jakarta
RegExp. The DBMS backend is MySQL, another open-source product.

The WXXI Spring Marketplace auction opened Sunday May 6, and processed
over 10,000 bids the first week. Lots close Monday 14 through Saturday
May 20, 2001.
