AOO 4.1.14
Hi all,
I think it is time for the next release.
I have created the Release Schedule [1] for AOO 4.1.14 now. Please join!
Regards,
Matthias

Hi Manjiro
Branch 4.1 is only updated with bug or security fixes. There can be no significant visual changes in this branch.
In any case the best path forward is for you to create a new icon theme
The instructions are here
https://github.com/apache/openoffice/blob/trunk/main/ooo_custom_images/README.txt
If you can create new icons for some items we can work together to make a new theme and then incorporate it in AOO,
All the best,
Pedro

Hi,
*After* we built "Release Candidate 1" you can download it here:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/openoffice/4.1.14-RC1/
As always, you can watch the progress here:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO+4.1.14
There are still a lot of tasks available, if you want to volunteer?

Matthias

yes, that would be great.
E.g., the project's website [1] needs to be updated with the release
data of the new version. Or more QA is always welcome.

That was another task I was thinking of...
I always made only the basic update in WikiData (version number, release

Yes, but we should update that, it still refers to Subversion in some
parts. And maybe we should place a link to that page in the Release
Schedule? It is really hard to find...

Done. Also volunteered to Update data in Wikidata

Will do ;)

I'm definitely not volunteering as release manager :)

This is a good approach to user friendly (in this case I was referring to the Devs/PMC, not the software users)
Thanks!
All the best,

Volunteering is the first step and this is a good task!
You have writing access to our cWiki? Please add your name to the table.
Updating the project information (doap_openoffice.rdf) is one of the
last steps, so you can monitor the process and ask questions whenever
you need to.

Moving the files to SourceForge will require an account there. Time
consuming, but possible.
As far as I know, source builds are done (and signed) by the release
manager.
> One of the obstacles is that everything seems complicated... Shouldn't all of this be more user friendly?
Honestly, this is not for users but for committers, that have a certain
access to our infrastructure. But we need more people to be able to do
something. Every release in the last years has been done by the same
(few) people...
BTW: We have some kind of documentation here (although outdated in parts):

I can volunteer to update the ASF Project Information and could move some files to Sourceforge or elsewhere or create the source builds(if that can be done in Ubuntu...)
One of the obstacles is that everything seems complicated... Shouldn't all of this be more user friendly?
Best,

Yes, tasks enough and so far the same people like always...
Maybe some people could take a heart and volunteer for a small task?
